"The Teutonic count was intrigued by the film \"Staroye I Novoye\" despite the unusual choice for an aristocrat to enjoy a film about Communist policies and proletarian demands. Thanks to Eisenstein's genius, the film's powerful imagery and lyricism captured the attention of the count and breached even the thick walls of his aristocratic Schloss. The film manages to preserve its artistic merits while serving as propaganda, with exceptional metaphors and social criticism that comment on issues such as illiteracy, bureaucracy, and religiosity. It also sheds light on ancient customs in Russia, which Dame Marfa and her fellow countrymen fight against while trying to improve their lot. The film covers various aspects of agriculture, including harvesting, fatten cows or pigs. Despite the censorship and mutilation of the film during Eisenstein's final era, it was fortunately restored and shown by the German-French TV channel \"ARTE,\" with a music score by Herr Taras Bujewski that perfectly complements Herr Eisenstein's primal artistic interests.
