安亚平生于1964年7月，因出演电影《八百罗汉》而开始了自己的演艺生涯。1987年他凭借《乌龙山剿匪记》中的“何山”一角爆红，之后成为了多部热播剧中的金牌配角。
先后曾在《三国演义》中饰演马超、在《康熙王朝》中饰演魏东亭，还搭档过六小龄童出演《西游记续集》，在剧中饰演鼍龙。
